Our OpenLog4 card offers a highly integrated hardware solution, that combines high impedance line isolation and a DSP processor on a single half length PCI card. The card is specifically targeted for developers of PC based Call Logging/Recording systems that run under Linux or Windows.
Voicetronix understands the advantages in decreasing application development
time and minimising the time to market of end-user solutions for its stakeholders.
Our OpenLog cards support a free commercial grade Open Source Voice Logger
application that enables users to quickly customise and deploy Call Logging/Recording
applications for a fraction of the price of commercially available Logging
solutions.
All you need is a PC, an OpenLog card and the Voice Logger
software to build your own multi-port Call Logging/Recording system.
Typical environments for Call Logging/Recording applications include:
- The finance and banking industry where calls are recorded
to verify transaction dealings.
- Call centres and help desks that monitor calls to be
used as customer service training aids.
- Emergency response services where calls answered are
often life threatening in nature.
- Corrective institutions that monitor calls for illegal
activities.
- Dictation services for Legal and Medical practitioners.
NOTE: This card is only recommended for existing customers and telephony solutions running under Windows. For new customers wishing to develop their telephony solutions under Linux, we recommends the OpenPCI series as a far superior alternative.
The following table summarises the main aspects of the hardware:

POTS lines and legacy PBX extensions for call logging/monitoring purposes. |
Half length PCI (5V) form factor. |
Can be only installed now in a limited range of motherboards and chassis sizes. |
Supports Linux and Windows operating systems. |
Windows based developers can leverage off our open source development tools to build their next Call recording application much the same way as Linux based developers. |
Configurable recording triggers (ie. Line voltage, VOX, DTMF, programmable tones). |
Faciltates recording of calls on most equipment and lines except through proprietary digital handsets found in keyed telephone systems (KTS). |
Open Source Software Development Tools and Logger application software. |
Speeds up development, provides total design and maintenance control and eliminates vendor lock-in, all at zero cost! Our open source API supports both synchronous and asynchronous programming models. Typical commercially available Call Logging solutions cost around US$1000/channel. For the price of a PC/server and an OpenLog4 card, you can deploy a commercial grade Call Logging/Recording system for a fraction of the price. Check out the free LGPL-licensed Voice Logger software for more feature information! |
Automatic gain control (AGC). |
Enables both parties (far-end and near-end) to be recorded at comparable volume levels. Without AGC the far-end caller signal level is usually much lower than the near-end caller signal level. |
Programmable software gain. |
It extends the recording range of the telephony hardware - suitable for line conditions that exhibit very low or high signal levels. |
Providing call logging/monitoring functionality to existing phone systems. Take a PC/server with the OpenLog4 card running Linux and tap the card's ports to the telco trunk lines (PSTN) if only incoming and outgoing calls need to be monitored. If inter-office calls are also required to be monitored, then tap the PBX extensions instead of the trunk lines. Install, configure and run our hardware driver & Logger application software. Note: Only the tapping of standard analogue handsets is supported. Digital handsets found in keyed telephone systems (KTS) cannot be tapped using our technology.
