Typical Configurations

The OpenLine4 is a compact loop terminating 4 port PCI card suitable for low density PC based Computer Telephony applications running on Linux and Windows.

The card supports a selection of free Open Source Telephony application software and operating systems. This provides developers with a powerful set of building blocks to quickly build feature rich telephony solutions for the price of a PC and an OpenLine4 card. Typical telephony applications include:

  • Voice over IP (VOIP) gateways
  • Interactive Voice Response (IVR)
  • Auto Attendant
  • Voicemail
  • Call Conferencing
  • Unified Messaging

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

The OpenLine4 card offers the application developer:

  • Four terminating analogue Loop-Start (FXO) telephone ports. These ports are functionally and electrically equivalent to a telephone and are capable of terminating lines from an external exchange or PBX.
  • Robust loop drop detection - suitable for the North American telephony network in detecting far end hang up.
  • DTMF generation and cut-through detection. Cut-through detection enables the detection of DTMF tones whilst a voice message is playing. This is an essential feature in IVR, Auto-Attendant and Voicemail systems where experienced users can immediately press a specified digit on their telephone keypad to access the system without waiting to hear an entire voice prompt.
  • Call Progress Analysis - monitors outgoing call activity including dialing, busy, ringback and disconnection.
  • Generation and detection of up to 10 user-defined programmable tones per channel - ideal for generating and detecting call progress tones from proprietary PABXs and the PSTN simultaneously.
  • Integrated Caller Identification - provides telephone number information on the calling party before the call is answered. With this module, CT applications can pop vital caller information on operators screens or direct callers to appropriate operator queues before the calls are answered. This is a powerful feature in call centre applications.
  • Integrated DSP Echo Cancellation - improves the accuracy of the DTMF cut-through detection algorithm and the audio quality in VOIP gateway applications in circumstances where echo is prevalent.
  • Software bridging enables the OpenLine4 card to bridge 2 or more channels - suitable for Call conferencing applications.
  • A comprehensive open source API that provides total control over the design of feature rich CT applications.
  • Support for the leading operating systems including Linux, FreeBSD, Windows 98/2000/XP/NT.
  • Higher port densities solutions by simply installing multiple cards within a PC chassis.
  • Integration with other Voicetronix hardware to create a Communications Server that provides PC based feature rich telephony services.
  • Support of free Open Source application software.
Open Source API
  • Comprehensive Open Source API that supports synchronous and asynchronous programming models and offers total design control over the telephony application.
  • Developers can make customisations/enhancements to the Open Source API to suit their requirements.
  • Download the VPB Driver to learn more!
Free Open Source Software
  • Quickly build feature rich telephony applications from the wide selection of free Open Source application software available with our OpenLine4 cards. These include:
    • CT Server, a client/server library for rapid Computer Telephony application development in Perl. Perl users can now quickly develop telephony applications using the OpenLine4 card running under Linux.
    • Asterisk, a complete PBX in software. It provides all of the features you would expect from a PBX, and can interoperate with almost all standards-based telephony equipment. It supports SIP and H.323 which enables developers to build IP-PBX solutions using IP-phones with our OpenLine4 card acting as the PSTN gateway. See testimonal from our customers here
Runs on Linux and Windows
  • Our Open Source software architecture enables easy porting to other operating systems. Currently the card supports Linux and Windows XP.
  • Ability to maintain applications remotely as open source operating systems offer reliable remote administration.
Easy Integration with other VoiceTronix hardware
  • All Voicetronix hardware is supported by a single open source driver.
  • Offers the opportunity to integrate with other Voicetronix hardware such as the OpenLog cards to create a Communications Server that can provide a range of telephony applications including Calling Logging, IVR, Voicemail, Auto-Attendant and VOIP services.
