C/C++ Software Developer Opportunities are available now!
Voicetronix is seeking experienced C/C++ software developers to join its R&D team to work on fixed line & IP telephony solutions. This is a multi-facet role, involving R&D, software development and technical support activities associated with the global distribution of our telephony products.

Skills sought include:

  • Strong C/C++ development ability under Linux.
  • Self starter with the ability to produce efficient designs and robust software.
  • Ability to diagnose and fix problems in existing implementations.
  • Previous development with ISDN, SIP/RTP communication protocols is highly desired.
  • Exposure to HTML, Web GUI development would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Perl, Apache and open source databases.

The OpenSwitch series to be discontinued by the end of 2007!
Voicetronix will cease manufacturing and selling the OpenSwitch series hardware by the end of 2007. For existing customers, the latest hardware driver is vpb driver 4.2 and some support will be available to registered customers on subscription based support packages. For more information contact sales. Voicetronix recommends the new OpenPCI series for any new telephony application development or installation.

Release of the Voicetronix Failover Box provides redundancy against power/system failure in PBX applications that use commodity PC hardware!
Voicetronix is pleased to announce the release of its Failover Box. It provides PC based PBX applications, such as Asterisk and OpenPBX, with a controlled way of failing over to trunk lines in circumstances where there is a power or computer system failure. The Failover Box has been designed to support our OpenPCI-8LS series hardware but can be used with other vendors' telephony PCI cards. So you don't have to use our hardware to take advantage of its features. For more information please check our openpci page or contact sales.

VPB Driver 3.1 with support for OpenPCI released.
This release contains initial support for our OpenPCI card, and includes a new kernel driver structure designed to integrate our different cards more closely. This initial release has only been tested on RedHat9.0, using applications CTServer-3.0 and Asterisk-1.2.0. Please see our downloads page for more information.

OpenPri (Dual) card supports Logger
Voicetronix is proud to announce the release of the latest revision of the Logger application now supporting our OpenPri-Dual PCI card. This is the culmination of the work undertaken at driver level and to CT Server (our own Perl middleware for our CT hardware) to operate the OpenPri dual card in Call Logging/montoring/recording mode. Now our customers can build commercial grade high density (primary rate line) call recording systems using our OpenPri cards and our Logger application.

CT Server had now been modified to work with the new VPB Driver 3.0. OpenPBX has been updated to understand the OpenPri cards. A few bugs where also fixed in the new driver.

Brand new VPB Driver 3.0 released.
This release is actually being called a beta as it has yet to be used in production, but it also has a lot of new features. The new driver supports our new OpenPri cards. It will also be able to use all of our cards at the same time, so you can mix OpenSwitch cards with OpenLine cards and OpenPri cards.

Adelaide office is moving!
UPDATE The moving day has been pushed to Wednesday the 30th of March as the new office will not be ready. The Adelaide office will be un-manned on Tuesday the 29th, as all the furniture would have moved on Monday the 28th. We should all be back to normal by Monday the 4th of April!
The Adelaide office is moving location on the 29th of March.There will be an interruption to our presence on the Internet for a couple of hours during the move.Our phones in Adelaide will also be down for the same period, but the numbers will not be changing.

Beta driver for Linux kernel 2.6.x series released for testing!
We have just recently got the new driver working under a 2.6.x kernel. This hasnt been fully tested under 2.6.x kernels. We have done the basic testing of loading the module and making sure that some of our unit test applications run (such as echo and measerl). We have noticed that the echo cancellor for the OpenSwitch12 cards is not working all that well under 2.6.x (still working nicely under 2.4.x though!). We will be doing some more work on the driver as time permits. Mean while you can grab is from here!

Asterisk updates, available from our site!
I have fixed a couple of major bugs in the Voicetronix channel driver for Asterisk. These include channels locking up on hangup, and half-duplex audio when a called is not Answer()'ed before a Dial(). This fix is not currently available in the CVS due some unresolved issues with the current head CVS version and the version from the 5th of August that my fix was based on.

Updates! VPB driver 2.3.1 released
This is essentially a bug fix release. It was noticed that the kernel FIFOs where dropping data which showed its self up in many ways. These included drop out in recordings (specificly noticed in Caller ID), and incorrect loop-drop detection.

Updates! VPB driver and CTServer/OpenPBX
The OpenSwitch driver just released has improved SMP support. It can also support multiple OpenSwitch cards. There have been some changes to how OpenPBX works its channel status detection, which has resolved a confused channel issue that was emerging on busy sites.

We have also updated both VPB Driver and CTServer to work under FreeBSD!

Australian (ACA) approval for the OpenSwitch family!

Lots of updates! VPB driver, logger and ctserver!
After a longer than expected gestation period, we are releasing a whole heap of updates.

  • VPB Driver 2.2.35 includes numerous minor bug fixes, support for the Line Voltage detection and a much improved Tone trainer.
  • Logger 0.64 has been confirmed to compile and run well on RedHat9.0 (with the latest vpb-driver).
  • CTServer 2.2 has some added functionality, mostly for the OpenPBX. This includes call parking (for on-hold), Call Data recording and an agent based automatic call distribution.

Improved On-hook/Off-hook voltage detection hardware on the OpenLog4 card!

The latest release of the OpenSwitch driver now supports multi-party conferencing. Currently it supports up to 10 conferences each with up to 10 people. We will soon be adding support for conferencing across boards.

Voicetronix OpenBox Finalist in LinuxWorld Open Source Product Excellence Awards

IDG World Expo today announced finalists for the LinuxWorld Open Source Product Excellence Awards, to be presented at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo next week. Sponsored by OSDN and presented in conjunction with the UniForum Association, the Open Source Product Excellence Awards recognize Open Source product and service innovations by LinuxWorld exhibitors.

LinuxWorld Conference & Expo will take place January 21-24, 2003 at New York City's Javits Center. The Open Source Product Excellence Awards will be presented in a ceremony held on the LinuxWorld show floor on Wednesday, January 22 at 4:30 p.m.

The Open Source Product Excellence Awards are divided into ten product categories, representing major areas of innovation in the Linux and Open Source community.
